I have been writing screenplays for
over 16 years. Of
course the first 5 or 10 were crap, but then there
came a point
where I hit the wall. Runners always talk about a wall
they
hit
when they run a marathon. I'm lazy and hate exercise of
any
kind, so I have no idea what they're talking about, but the
wall I hit
was the one where I finally understood. I had read
almost every book
out there, every copy of Scr(i)pt Magazine
and
Creative Screenwriting I could get my hands on as I wrote
script after script
and learned more and more and rewrote and
rewrote
and rewrote and
rewrote.
Then I
hit the wall of complete understanding. I finally
understood structure,
dialogue, character development, story
development, high concept writing --
all of it. The next script
I wrote was FINDING PHARAOHS, which would
later be titled
UNRAVELED, and would place
in the semi-finals of a couple of contests named Scriptapalooza and Writer's
Script Network, along with another script of mine titled FRAME.
UNRAVELED got me a WGA Signatory agent and become my first script to be
optioned by an actual producer and go into development as a project, for
Unizarre International, set to be shot in Louisiana in 2010. You can check
it out on their website at
www.unizarre.com/projects/p008.htm. My next script was FERAL, which went on
to win 2nd Place in sellascript.com's All Access Competition. FERAL also placed in the top 15% of
the Nicholl Fellowships and recieved a rating of Recommend from Script PIMP.
It is currently being pitched and making the
rounds.
My
next script was co-written with screenwriter Ian Noakes, and it is titled DARK
PASSENGER. It would quickly become a Script PIMP Recommend as well, make
the top 20% in the Screenwriting Expo competition and be optioned by DreamBig
Entertainment. It currently fell out of option but is being shopped
around to other interested parties. These will be my first 2 produced
credits, and I am extremely excited about the entire process. Most
recently, I have signed on with a top Hollywood management company and have some
exciting times ahead.
I also run a screenwriting workshop where I lead writer's in
developing scripts from start to finish, as well as teach screenwriting to new
and established screenwriters. I have a background in training and
teaching and the people I've worked with feel I know what I'm
talking about and deliver it well. I have also
done script reading for Alliance Atlantis and Clara Nova Studios and have worked as
a script doctor for Movie
Jigsaw.
That's
me in a nutshell. So why choose me to read your script and give feedback
and opinions as to what works, what doesn't, what's good, what's bad, what
can be done better and how it can be done better? Why should you listen to
me? Well, I know this craft inside and out. I live and breathe
it. I actually enjoy reading other writer's scripts and seeing if I can
help find ways to make it that much better. I also have a one time money
back guarantee if you are not happy with what I can do. Of course, there
is a difference of not thinking I delivered what I said I would, and just being
pissed off if I don't think your script is all that good. If I don't think
your script is good enough, then at least I will point out why and give options
and suggestions on possibly making it better.
So take a chance, hire me to give you coverage, development notes or even be
your coach... What have you got to lose? Even if it's just as a cheap test
drive before you take it to the bigger, more expensive guys. But I promise
your script will be better off after the experience, and you'll have a new
networking contact as well. I look forward to working with you and hope to
hear from you.
